I just joined this server and I've been working on a fort/town for a bit now but I don't know how to make it official. Can someone please tell me?

Hi Salamander!
To create a town, you first need 5k, you can get this by doing /quests.
Once you have that, you do /t new nameoftown
It is recommended you have 10k so that you can deposit 5k into your town back, /t deposit amount, so that it does not fall due to taxes!

Can I just buy game currency by donating?

Nope! You cannot but in game currency by donating. You can get in game currency from /quests or /jobs or selling to other players
